In the 19th century, various ideologies such as socialism and anarchism emerged in Europe, as well as Darwin’s theory of evolution. It was in this intellectual context that Marxism emerged as an important and influential ideology, which later had a profound impact on world politics and social order. Marxism, which is a socialist theory developed through the joint efforts of German thinkers Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. The main foundations of this ideology are materialism, class struggle, revolution, the dictatorship of the working class, the downfall of the state, and the eventual establishment of a communist society where all citizens enjoy equal rights. Class struggle, the decline of the state, and the establishment of socialist society are the results or consequences of historical materialism. The economic condition of a society influences the political and social conditions. Marx’s theory is the foundation of communist parties, but in reality they are almost always deviating from their idealistic goals and falling behind. Although they follow the ideals of historical materialism, they are unable to adapt to the changes of the present day, which is why their political power and public support are declining. As a result, questions are being raised about their political future. They are trying to reinvent themselves, but they are not getting the expected results.
