Reviewers’ Ethical Responsibilities
- Subject Expertise: Reviewers must possess adequate expertise in the subject area and must review manuscripts fairly, regardless of the author’s gender, ethnicity, religion, nationality, or political beliefs.
- Objectivity: Reviews should be constructive, impartial, and free from personal bias. Hostile, defamatory, or prejudiced comments are not acceptable.
- Confidentiality: All information related to the manuscript must be treated as confidential and not disclosed to any third party.
- Conflict of Interest: Any real or perceived conflict of interest during the review process must be disclosed to the editor immediately.
- Integrity of Review: Information obtained during the peer review process must not be used for personal advantage or to harm or discredit any individual or institution.
- Rejection Justification: If a manuscript is found unsuitable for publication, the reviewer must clearly communicate the reasons to the editor in a professional manner.
Editors’ Ethical Responsibilities
- Fair Evaluation: Manuscripts must be evaluated solely on their academic merit, without bias toward the authors’ personal characteristics, background, or affiliations.
- Disclosure of Conflicts: Any editorial conflict of interest must be declared and managed appropriately.
- Confidentiality: All content in submitted manuscripts must be kept confidential and not disclosed outside the editorial and review process.
- Decision Authority: The Editorial Board has full and final authority over manuscript acceptance or rejection, based on:
- Peer reviewers’ recommendations
- Journal policies
